Swap systems: wide variety

The Carrier System makes Krone one of the leading providers of robust and efficient swap systems – from the Box Carrier Chassis and Profi Box swap flatbeds right through to the refrigerated and unrefrigerated Cool Box and Dry Box. The modular system for swap bridge logistics creates solutions which are tailor-made to meet the respective requirements. The numerous proven standards include, for example, steel centring rollers that can be repositioned to accommodate ISO containers, the functional guide tunnel that is bevelled at the front and the extendible drawbar. In addition, the Box Carrier Chassis is also available in a central axle design and for volume swap bodies.

The Krone Dry Boxes are characterised by their smooth and therefore air resistance-optimised front and side walls. As with the Krone Dry Liner dry freight box body, there are four basic types: Steel smooth wall (STG), plywood (STP), the particularly light Carbofont version (STK) and the lightly insulated box (LI).

The robust Krone swap bodies can be combined with numerous equipment variants. The roof is available as a steel roof, as a translucent and UV-resistant GRP roof or as an insulated roof. The rear wall can be designed as a DB-capable roller shutter, but also with container doors or as a rear end with tail lift. Inside, the options are extensive, ranging from equipment for parcels and furniture moving, right through to double-deck equipment. Another example is the Krone Air Cargo Box with five pneumatic roller conveyors and the Multi Switch system, which allows load securing both in and against the direction of travel. Another popular variant is the Cool Box Duoplex Steel for the fresh food service.

The Krone Dry Boxes are designed for a permissible total weight of 18,000 kg and have the following load securing certificates: Daimler 9.5, DIN 12642 Code XL and VDI 2700 for beverage transport. The landing legs are telescopic and the locking mechanism can be operated from the outside. When loaded, the Krone Dry Boxes can be stacked up to three high. In the roof, a light window provides brightness inside, reaching across the entire width. Inside, the superstructure is protected by a lateral double-walled forklift damage protection, measuring approximately 360 mm high, with bulk material outflow. As an additional aid to load securing, a row of rod lashing rails is recessed horizontally into the side walls.

The Krone Profi Box swap flatbeds are also characterised by a wide range of options, whether fixed roof, Hamburg roof or tarpaulin sliding roof; whether with board walls, curtainsider or board wall curtainsider, whether in 7.15 m, 7.45 m or 7.82 m overall length. The largest version is the extra-long swap flatbed with sliding curtain design, measuring 13.6 m long, for transport on a Krone Box Liner eLTU5 Plus.

KSC Solar for swap bodies

Krone has developed the Krone Smart Collect Solar (KSC Solar) telematics unit especially for swap systems that do not have a power supply. Thanks to the integrated super capacitor, you can benefit from stored solar energy in the range from -20 °C to +60 °C; so even at extreme temperatures. Even during longer periods of gloomy weather, the integrated battery lasts up to 18 days without sunshine. The solar-operated telematics unit will be offered factory-installed and as a ready-to-install retrofit kit.
